Jishan Gaotai Coloratura Drum is a collection of music, martial arts, opera, juggling and other folk art elements of the dance art. Its origin and formation of the written records are very few and it is hard to proceed to the textual research. But in the Jishan annual festivals, the artistes with unique skills emerge in endlessly, of which, the relatively famous flower drums are Wubi Coloratura Drum, Tongshang Coloratura Drum, Dongpu Coloratura Drum, Xiwei Coloratura Drum and Sizhuang Coloratura Drum. Jishan coloratura drum's characteristics of the playing methods includes "Fancy play around the field", "Pair play with benches", "Gaotai fancy play", " Gaotai upside play", "Chest drum beating with a number 8 shape play", "Waist drum play" and so on. The music of coloratura drum interspersed in coloratura drum also has local characteristics, all folk songs, with lyrical and beautiful melodies.

Jishan Gaotai Coloratura Drum is generally presented in the sacrificial ceremony such as in Shehuo rite during the Spring Festival and other holiday celebration periods. Its performance is warm and cheerful, crisp, vivid and magnificent. In 2008, it participated in the artistic performance in the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games and the 2009 CCTV Spring Festival gala, which is a world-renowned drum and dancing art.
