Jiangshouju Garden (the local government’s garden) serves as a key cultural relic protection unit in Shanxi Province. Actually, it is the only oldest governmental existing garden in the Sui Dynasty across the northern China. It is located at No. 42 Zhengping Street. People in Xinjiang County usually call it the Garden, which was the back garden of Yamen (government office in feudal China). It sits north to south, with 188.55 meters of length from east to west, as well as 75.5 meters of width from north to south, covering an area of 14235.53 square meters. According to historical records, it was originally established by Liang Gui, the commander of Linfen County in the 16th year (596) of first Emperor in the Sui Dynasty. Later, it was rebuilt in Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Ding dynasties respectively. After thousands of years, the landform of the garden is still relatively complete. The garden includes the scenery of spring, summer, autumn and winter. The whole garden is divided into eastern and western gardens by the meridian beam. In the south end of the meridian beam, the Incense Pavilion is built, while the north end is Jiahe Building. In the east garden, there are Banquet Festival Building, Moon Watching Tower, Cang Pond, Hexagonal Door Opening Screen Wall and Lianggong Hall. In the opposite direction, there are Half Pavilion, Tiger and Leopard Gate, Huilian Pavilion and Huilian Pool. In the third year of Changqing (823) in Tang Dynasty, a Jiangzhou feudal provincial named Fan Zongshi wrote "Jiangshouju Garden Record", containing a full text of 777 characters, which is strange and difficult to understand. But many famous people throughout the ages wrote notes for it. Tang and Song poets and scholars like Cen Sen, Ouyang Xiu, Mei Yaochen and Fan Zhongyan all wrote poems here. In 1960, Wang Yeqiu, an archaeologist and former Director of National Cultural Relics, paid a special visit to this place. He published an article in the People's Daily entitled "Taking a Look at the Garden Through the Mist", which attracted great attention from people at home and abroad. Japan included it in the "History of Ancient Garden Building".

In May 1965, it was declared as a key cultural relic protection unit at the provincial level. Later, it was officially opened to the public as a scenic spot in 2000. In addition, it was also declared as one of the third-batch national key parks in 2009 by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.

Drive from the gate of Xinjiang Expressway, along the 799 county road through Xincheng District, go down to Beihuan Road (Intersection of Qixiang Road, Chenghao Road and Chaodianpo Road) , get across of any road mentioned above to the south to Xidajie Street which is on the opposite of Cathedral Church.

2. Take bus of Yuncheng or bus of Houma to get off at Qiaotou Square in Xinjiang, walk 100 meters to the west, and then go north along Longxing Dajie Street, at the top of which is Longxing Temple. You can also take No. 1 bus and get off at the Cultural Bureau.
